How My Dream Home Business Became a Reality©
Frank Welzig, President Welzig, Lowe and Associates L.L.C. www.websitedesignanswers.com My dream business is that of the Information Product Developer. A Product Developer will search out a niche or a small marketplace where people are hungry for new and useful information. The information can be delivered in many different forms: e-books, printed books, CDs, DVDs, software, Members Only sites, content rich websites, seminars, retreats, etc. I decided this would be my perfect path to making a decent living. On making this decision I immediately laid out some basic requirements of the business and the work I would do. Id like to share those with you and see if you too might think this could be the perfect business for you. The following is based on my study of other successful Information Product Developers. - My overriding vision was to create income streams from businesses that would allow me to live free of the corporate environment and to provide a legitimate and ethical service to others who dream of living the same lifestyle.
- I looked at my current position within the corporate walls and made a conscious choice to leave and pursue my dream of being an Independent Product Developer.
- I made a conscious choice to be scrupulously honest and deliver only top rate products at a fair price.
- My #1 belief is that success comes most easily to me when I develop products for areas where I have a high interest, or even a passion, and Im deeply involved.
- I am constantly expanding my capabilities through self-study, trainings, and any form of education that makes me more successful as a Product Developer.
- I have an overall action plan that I execute each and every day.
- I control my environment instead of letting it control me.
- Portability the business can be performed from almost anywhere in the world. This allows us to live anywhere, in any environment we choose.
- Home office this allows me to keep overhead to an absolute minimum.
- Creative Uniqueness the products and services are directly related to my creative skills. I have total control over what I develop, where I sell it, how I market it, etc.
- No employees I contract out any work or service I might need in the business.
- Interesting and enjoyable I insist that any new directions I might move into be fun and engage me completely.
- Proven models of success every project is based on a well researched model of success. I research carefully who is successful in an area of interest and then I use them as my models.
- Technology Leverage powerful computers and specialized software to create and enhance my products.
- Flexible hours I work when I want to within limits of course. Working at home allows me to set my work schedule and not be tied to someone elses schedule.
- Freedom to say no I am in complete control to choose my projects based on my criteria and no one elses.
- Potential to make an unlimited amount of money how much money I make each year is based on my creative and business powers. My business is based on creating multiple streams of income to insure stability.
The list goes on and on because my research on this successful business model fills several 3-ring binders. I think you get the idea though from the above how useful building your own success model can be. Your model might be similar or completely different but the important point remains to base it on a proven success whenever possible. You may have noticed that I structured the above model on the Six Logical Levels: - Spirit - or the Creative Power of the Universe
- Identity who you are choosing to Be or Become
- Beliefs the foundation of your new Identity and business
- Capabilities what you need to add to your current skills, knowledge, etc.
- Behaviors these are the actions you take each day to move towards your Dream
- Environment how you want to structure your daily life and business so that it is a constant source of satisfaction
